Who is responsible

Bangalore Mizo Christian Fellowship, a society registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act 1960 (Regd. No. 427/93–94), meeting at Charles Ranson Hall, The United Theological College, 63 Miller’s Road, Benson Town, Bengaluru 560046.

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, BMCF is a data fiduciary. The Secretary is the office bearer accountable for how your information is handled, and is reachable at bmcf75@gmail.com.

What we hold, and why

Only what the fellowship needs in order to be a fellowship — to visit members, roster services, and keep the church roll.

• Your name, in Mizo and, if you give one, in English.
• Your WhatsApp number. This is how BMCF reaches you, and how you sign in — we send a code to confirm the number is yours.
• Where you live in Bangalore. Used to place you in one of the four Area Fellowships, so the people nearest you know you are there. Being mapped to an Area gives you no access to anything and takes none away.
• Your household — who in the fellowship you belong with.
• A photograph, only if you agree separately. No photograph of you appears anywhere unless you have said yes to it.

We do not collect anything about your finances, your health, or your beliefs beyond your membership of this fellowship.

What you choose

There are two WhatsApp switches, and they are independent. Saying no to either changes nothing else about your membership.

• Duty reminders — a message when you are rostered for a service, and a reminder the evening before.
• Announcements — general news from the fellowship.

Change either at any time from your profile, or reply STOP on WhatsApp. We keep a record of what you agreed to and when, including the exact wording shown to you at the time — so that what you agreed to stays provable, to you as much as to us.

Who can see it

Access follows the office someone currently holds, and ends when that term ends. A committee secretary sees their own committee. The Office Bearers — roughly six people — can read every document the fellowship holds, which is a consequence of the offices they hold rather than a decision about any one member. Every document read is logged.

Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone outside BMCF except:

• WhatsApp (Meta), which carries the messages we send you. Meta sees your phone number because it must, in order to deliver a message to it.
• Cloudflare, which stores the data and serves this site. It sits in BMCF’s own account.

Where it lives, and for how long

In BMCF’s own Cloudflare account. A backup is taken weekly and a copy kept away from Cloudflare each month, so a mistake or an outage does not lose the roll.

We keep your record while you are a member of the fellowship. Records of past office bearers are kept as part of the fellowship’s history — who served, in what role, in which year — because that is the church’s own record of itself.

What you can ask for

• To see what is held about you. Most of it is on your own profile page; ask the Secretary for the rest.
• To correct it. Your profile is the place to do this, and it is the only place — a wrong number has no other route to being fixed.
• To withdraw consent, from your profile or by replying STOP.
• To have your record removed — see deleting your data.
• To complain. Write to the Secretary first. You may also approach the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

Children are recorded as part of a household, entered by a parent. Children do not hold accounts and are not sent messages.

Changes

If this notice changes, the previous version stays on record, and consents already given stay attached to the wording that was actually shown at the time. We do not rewrite what you agreed to.

This notice describes what the system does. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and the Executive Committee intends to have the wording checked.
